Our very own Mc Holly under Top Notch Entertainment has made history in the Akwa Ibom entertainment industry by pushing the frontier of comedy to a new level.

2nd May 2021 would remain indelible in the minds of Akwaibomites as the day of Eruption captured as the theme of the event. Imagine having Kenny Blaq, Acapella, Osama, Dan Dizzy, Sagas, General Odey, Captain Edet, Jesta, Ikpa Udo, Dj Ritzy, Royal Music House and of course, on stage on the same night. Yes! MC Holly made it happen.

If you have not heard about it, if you missed the opportunity to witness it, this is your opportunity to catch a glimpse of the biggest comedy.

We are talking about Holly Era 2.0, an event with an undiluted dose of comedy and entertainment. MC Holly is a renowned Mc, Presenter, Compare and Comedian who has actively been in the entertainment industry, with experience spanning over ten years. His mission is to use the comedy business as a vehicle for sustainable development in the Akwa Ibom entertainment Industry. He started this adventure with Holly Era 1.0, held at SilverBird Cinemas, Uyo, on 1st January 2020. The goal was to bring the fun; Far away(Lagos and the rest of Nigeria) back; home. During a media campaign about the unique appearance of A-list comedians like Kenny Blaq, Acapella, and Osama would live at Emerald Event Center, who understandably received the news. People thought it was business as usual where event planners use names to sell shows. It was as a result of the demand for more that we went for Holly Era 2.0.

Is it that efforts have not been made in the past to bring the comedy industry limelight in the state? Of course, the the answer is no. The Ibom Air factor was critical in making the difference this time. Ibom Airline evolved into a reliable ally towards promoting domestic tourism and has demonstrated its readiness to partner with a brand that shares this vision with this event.

Our star of the show validated this claim. Starting with the arrival, Kenny Blaq appreciated the massive reception at that airport, same with Acapella, Osama and Jesta. With the bit of time available, some of them had the opportunity to visit exciting places in Uyo, including the Tropicana Shopping Mall.

The event and performances were top-notch. Royal Music House (RMH), a world-class musical group, could thrill the audience with unique lyrical content. The event featured: Ikpa Udo (AfroPop); Dj Ritzy (our foremost female DJ); John Bernard (a maestro violinist); Uwen Uyo (Country Music); J-Great (Reggae); Ihechi (Afro-contemporary with RMH).

The audience could not have asked for more on the main business of the day (Comedy). The man of the moment, MC Holly, opened the show and owned his stage with brilliant jokes that thrilled the audience. Kenny Blaq (King of Musical Comedy) was on fire with new musical comedy content never seen before. Acapella cracked the rip of everyone with his reality jokes. Osama (King of the North) came in strong with hilarious explosive materials; of course, he did not leave out the popular demand. Jesta assumed the role of a proud prince that returned home after an adventure; Captain Edet, as usual, took care of the ship and General Odey spares no one’s ribs with his incredible performance.

To put the icing on the cake, Dan Dizzy (King of Free Style Rap) took us to the moon with his spontaneousbinteraction with the audience with his freestyle.

It is essential to mention that the hall sold out. The the audience was quite a rich one. Hollys Era pulled an unusual quality of audience made up of businessmen/women, captains of the politicians, industry leaders, government functionaries and ordinary people as well.

In all, the event received many commendations from different quarters and valuable recommendations on making it longer and better next time. Popular demand was that the show should be a more frequent event. With necessary support and sponsorship, we are sure that Akwa Ibom is transforming into a fertile ground for grooming young talents and a platform for showcasing such talents as Holly Okosin George, aka Mc Holly, has demonstrated with this partnership with Ibom Air.
