According to the travel website, &#8220;Banga is so popular in Nigeria that shops sell ready-mixed packets of spice. Fruits from the oil palm tree lend both fat and flavor to this soup from the Niger Delta, which also has fresh catfish, beef and dried seafood as ingredients\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Ghana, palm nut soup is called <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">abenkwan<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In Cameroon, it is known as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mbanga <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">while in Nigeria, it is called <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Banga<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> soup, with variant names such as E<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fere abaak, ofe akwu, oghwo amiedi<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, or <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">izuwo ibiedi<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> depending on the tribe, the ingredients used and the mode of preparation. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Banga<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> soup can be eaten with other dishes and swallows such as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fufu, banku,<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">garri<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, pounded yam, rice, boiled plantains, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Banga<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> soup is highly nutritional. Boil for 15 minutes with the pot half-open.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will be thick. Wash the fish with warm water and salt to remove the bones.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boil meat and stockfish with onion, salt and Maggi. Cover to simmer for another 5 mins.
