Building a pipeline of professionals in readiness for the expansion plans of Ibom Air, a crop of young, highly intelligent individuals have commenced their sojourn at the Airbus Flight Academy in Toulouse France,\u00a0 where they would remain for the next two years.<\/span><\/p>\n

This training is fully funded by the\u00a0 Akwa Ibom State Government under the leadership of His Excellency Mr. Udom Emmanuel , as part of his human capital development initiatives.<\/span><\/p>\n

Introducing the Airbus A320<\/b><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Airbus A320 family<\/b> is a series of narrow-body airliners developed and produced by Airbus. The A320 was launched in March 1984, <\/span>first flew<\/span><\/a> on 22 February 1987, and was introduced in April 1988 by <\/span>Air France<\/span><\/a>. The first member of the family was followed by the longer A321 (first delivered in January 1994), the shorter A319 (April 1996), and the even shorter A318 (July 2003). Final assembly takes place in <\/span>Toulouse<\/span><\/a> in France; <\/span>Hamburg<\/span><\/a> in Germany; <\/span>Tianjin<\/span><\/a> in China since 2009; and in <\/span>Mobile, Alabama<\/span><\/a> in the United States since April 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>twinjet<\/span><\/a> has a six-abreast cross-section and is powered by either <\/span>CFM56<\/span><\/a> or <\/span>IAE V2500<\/span><\/a> turbofans, except the CFM56\/<\/span>PW6000<\/span><\/a> powered A318. The family pioneered the use of digital <\/span>fly-by-wire<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>side-stick<\/span><\/a> flight controls in airliners. Variants offer <\/span>maximum take-off weights<\/span><\/a> from 68 to 93.5 t (150,000 to 206,000 lb), to cover a 5,740\u20136,940 km (3,100\u20133,750 nmi) <\/span>range<\/span><\/a>. The 31.4 m (103 ft) long <\/span>A318<\/span><\/a> typically accommodates 107 to 132 passengers. The 124-156 seat <\/span>A319<\/span><\/a> is 33.8 m (111 ft) long. The A320 is 37.6 m (123 ft) long and can accommodate 150 to 186 passengers. The 44.5 m (146 ft) <\/span>A321<\/span><\/a> offers 185 to 230 seats. The <\/span>Airbus Corporate Jets<\/span><\/a> are business jet versions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Airbus\u00a0 A320 is a recent addition to the Ibom Air fleet, in partnership with GETJETS, replacing the Airbus A220 which operated for over one year, in partnership with Egypt Air.<\/span><\/p>\n
